I'm a photographer based on Vancouver Island.

I've always been drawn to photographs that feel artsy and magical. Not necessarily the technically perfect photograph, but the one that has some life to it. I love a dreamy soft focus, grain, movement, and the strange little in-between moments where your personality really shines through.That’s what it’s all about!

I went to art school and have a degree in photography. I taught it at the college level, and I've worked in commercial photography and advertising as both a photographer and as an art director. That background taught me a lot about making an image — composition, lighting, styling, art direction, and all the technical things that go into getting a photograph right. It also taught me that sometimes getting it right means knowing when to stop trying so hard.

When it comes to weddings, I'm much more interested in what's actually happening than creating a series of perfect poses. I'll give you some direction when it helps, but mostly I'll be paying attention, moving around, looking for good light, and getting the sneaky shots of your loved ones crying that will really matter once the wedding is over.

I'm especially drawn to couples who do things their own way. Big weddings, tiny weddings, themed weddings, city hall, backyard parties, something completely unconventional. Your wedding day should be about being with the people you love, having fun, feeling everything, and actually being there.
